Estelle Toerien

Estelle Toerien comes from Johannesburg, South Africa. After initially pursuing a career in the corporate sector, she decided to combine her love of teaching and traveling and started teaching English as a second language. 

For the last decade, she has been specializing in teaching English for academic purposes. She has been teaching mainly in MENA countries and is excited about the opportunity to engage with students from her native continent at CMU Africa. 

Her focus is on equipping students with the necessary skills to make the transition from their experience in a more traditional education environment to one with a student-centered approach. She also provides continued language support as they navigate their degree programs in English.

Toerien is a passionate educator and a lifelong learner who is sensitive to her students’ needs. She firmly believes that teaching should be a passion since educators can have a significant impact on students’ lives.
