Course description

This course aims to introduce students to a range of academic skills to support them in their MSc programs. The skills will include identifying credible sources, describing graphs, processes and changes as well as longer pieces of academic writing such as critical reviews and essays.

This course is offered on a pass/no pass basis.

Learning objectives

The primary aim of this course is to increase students’ ability to communicate effectively in an English language academic context by developing their research and writing skills. Its secondary aims are to enhance higher order thinking aptitudes and independent learning.

Outcomes

By the end of the course, students will be better able to identify, analyze and construct arguments in academic style, supported by clear reasoning and evidence.
