This talk will discuss some of the motivations for sharing information securely and privately. We will explore some of the application areas, including across Digital Public Infrastructure. We will present the methods to facilitate this data sharing and some recent results.
Speaker: Carsten Maple, professor of cyber systems engineering at the University of Warwick's Cyber Security Centre (CSC)
Bio: Carsten Maple is a professor of cyber systems engineering at the University of Warwick's Cyber Security Centre (CSC). He is the director of research in cyber security working with organizations in key sectors such as manufacturing, healthcare, financial services and the broader public sector to address the challenges presented by today's global cyber environment. He is also a co-investigator of the PETRAS National Centre of Excellence for IoT Systems Cybersecurity where he leads transport & mobility and is a fellow of the Alan Turing Institute.
Maple was previously a professor of applicable computing and pro vice chancellor (research and enterprise) at the University of Bedfordshire. He has an international research reputation and extensive experience of institutional strategy development and interacting with external agencies. He has published over 200 peer reviewed papers and is co-author of the UK Security Breach Investigations Report 2010, supported by the Serious Organized Crime Agency and the Police Central e-crime Unit. Carsten is also co-author of Cyberstalking in the UK, a report supported by the Crown Prosecution Service and Network for Surviving Stalking.
