Tucker named Trustee Professor of Mechanical Engineering

Carnegie Mellon University’s College of Engineering recently announced the selection of eight new endowed chairs to recognize outstanding scholarly achievement for faculty. Among the awardees is CMU-Africa Director Conrad Tucker, who was named Trustee Professor of Mechanical Engineering. Tucker is also associate dean for international affairs-Africa in the College of Engineering and holds courtesy faculty appointments in machine learning, robotics, and biomedical engineering. His research focuses on the design and optimization of systems through the acquisition, integration, and mining of large scale, disparate data.

Endowed chairs are one of the highest recognitions that can be awarded to a faculty member. They enable the college to recruit and retain the best and the brightest faculty to deliver on the breakthrough innovation and scholarly work the institution is known for in the world. The chairs are possible because of the generosity and support of donors who enable the college to honor these world-class faculty in this way.

Tucker joins seven other faculty in the College of Engineering who received endowed chairs:
