Targeting Humanitarian Aid with Machine Learning and Digital Data
Emily Aiken, a postdoctoral scholar at Carnegie Mellon University Africa
Aiken will explore how novel digital data sources, combined with machine learning, can enhance the accuracy of aid program targeting in low- and middle-income countries. Using case studies from Togo and Bangladesh, the talk will highlight the effectiveness of these data-driven approaches and explore their implications for fairness, privacy, transparency, and community dynamics.
